Munk Race Fab
recently finished this 1967 Chevelle for a local business owner and friend Michael Bates.
The car came you us in rough condition having been disassembled for “restoration” more than
7 years ago. After evaluation of the project a plan was made. We began gathering parts.
This was an 18 month build for MRF from start to finish.
We began by placing body on rotisserie, media blasting and replacing various panels. Wheel tubs and trunk pan were then modified
to accommodate 18x12 rear wheels and 315 drag radials. Stock frame was then sectioned 6 inches. Total rear end housing narrowed
4 inches. Adjustable aluminum coil over shocks were added and frame is boxed.
The car’s owner Mike gets credit for engine and transmission build. The engine is traditional old school 427 BBC.
11:1 compression, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Howards .625 lift roller cam and a host of premium parts.
Trans is a GM4L80 with 3000 stall converter and US gear trans controller.
American Auto Wire provided the harness and load center. A huge Restomod Air Haymaker 11 A/C -heater.
Unit is tucked up behind the dash. Restomod's “Reactor” controller and dash registers were integrated
into the dash frame. Dakota digital VHX series instrumentation monitors vitals and LED lighting is used throughout.
Fit and finish is evident but make no mistake this is not just another “show car”. It will be driven and enjoyed
on our scenic Northern California roads.
